France
Paris anchors the country. Nice anchors the Riviera, with Cannes, Monaco, St. Tropez, and Antibes each bringing their own character.
Spain
San Sebastián has one of the highest concentrations of Michelin-starred restaurants per capita in the world. Madrid pairs the Prado's masterpieces with some of the best late-night energy in Europe. Sevilla's flamenco and Moorish architecture make it one of the most distinct cities in the country, and the Costa del Sol brings the coastline and sun.
Switzerland
Geneva and Zürich both pair a real city with a lake and the Alps close behind it, though I don't think either view compares to Lausanne's.
Portugal
The Algarve's red cliffs and sea caves line some of Europe's most dramatic coastline. Golden beaches, fresh seafood, and golf courses keep it busy well past summer.
Africa
Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, and the vineyards of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek round out the trip.
Asia
Shanghai's skyline rivals any city in the world. Bangkok anchors the country, with quieter Hua Hin along the water. Causeway Bay is Hong Kong's answer to Fifth Avenue. In India, the Taj Mahal in Agra is only a few hours' drive from New Delhi.
South America
Chile is as long as the US is wide. Brazil brings Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer, and Porto de Galinhas, one of the country's best-known beaches.
Beach & Island
Grand Cayman lets you feed wild stingrays at Stingray City. Nantucket runs on grey-shingled charm. Maui's Haleakalā is one of the largest dormant volcanoes in the world. The Seychelles and Mauritius are home to the Aldabra giant tortoise and the extinct dodo bird.
